The greatist band without a doubt is Queen. The fusion of opera and rock was inovative and creative Rolling Eyes

Honourable mention to' Black Sabbath,' after all they really invented 'heavy metal' and all the bands that followed, although 'Deep Purple' would also share that crown, any comments out there Question

The Beatles sold over 100 million in Cd's and DVD's last year and they haven't been together for what 35 years? Who is the most timeless band of the 20th century? It's got to be the 'Fab Four', I rest my case Exclamation

true queen is a grand fusion of rock and opera. But if you want that just listen to The Who's "Tommy". Tis' why its called the first and greatest rock opera of all time! Or the prelude to Tommy in either "the who sell out" or The Who's mini opera on their second album entitled "A Quick One While He's Away" But Whatever. to each his own. Zepplin is up their too

Pink Floyd must be regared by everyone as in the top 3 bands of all time. This is for the simple fact that their albums are not just produced with a random collabation of songs but instead a group of well connected and related material. Pink Floyd created the prefect album in Dark Side of The Moon, what more needs to be said!

I would have to agree with this guest that the 'High concept ' album format as apposed to a collection of singles was polished by Pink Floyd and 'Dark side of the moon' is one of the best examples, however The Beatles really pionnered this with Sgt. Pepper and the White album due mainly , I suspect to George Martain's genius in the studio. Rolling Eyes

Surviving members of the legendary band 'The Who' are reportively working in the studio on a new album. The band is toying with ideas for a name of there collaberation' suggestion have been 'Who 2', refering to the '2' members left, and my favorite 'Who's left', nice to see they still have a sense of humor, can't wait to hear the new recording ....cheer's!!

There really can't be any doubt that the Beatles were the greatest band of the 20th century. Led Zeppelin is also amazing, but the rest don't even come close. Queen? *pukes*

I would also include groups like the Doors before those like Fleetwood Mac... mere riff-raff.
